SmartGuard puncture protection is a specially strong anti-puncture belt that, a 5mm thick, even a thumbtack cannot penetrate. The highly elastic rubber mixture actively drives sharp objects back out of the tyre. Best of all though SmartGuard does not increase rolling resistance.

"I bought these for my road bike after a dreadful week of punctures on my hybrid.
The slight increase in rolling resistance is well worth paying for the security.
They are not easy to fit but not impossible either. Money well spent!"

"I bought this tyre because it is said to be strong against punctures. My ride to work is strewn with glass and I was getting regular punctures. I havent had one since so I would rate it as effective. I bought the 3.5 width on the basis that it would be thinner, less friction and therefore a bit faster. But Id say it loses a bit on cornering so if I was buying again I would probably buy a wider version. Also inner tubes for the 3.5 width are not stocked by many retailers. The 5 stars are for the puncture resistance."
